About Lisa
As a young girl, my incredible Mum introduced me to my mentor, spiritual guide and best friend in the form of my first horse, Roxy, who pulled me away from traditional methods of riding and horsemanship, and showed me the magic of true partnership and connection.. and how your life changes once you have it.
Learning to utilise Positive Reinforcement training methods led me down the path of training horses full time under my own banner, “Free Rein Horsemanship”- handling, starting undersaddle, working through traumas, behavioural issues and rescuing and training horses bound for slaughter.
I found my heart amongst horses, and have since dedicated my life to giving back to them, if only a fraction of what they have given me.
I think deep down, everyone wants that special, magical relationship with their horse. It’s easy to think that these relationships can only be achieved by “Horse Whisperers” or only to be found with that one Heart Horse who resonated on our level.
But the truth is, every single person, and every single horse, can experience that magic. We just need to be in the right heart space, see from the right perspective and most importantly, learn to hear our horses speak to us.
We don’t need to be a “Horse Whisperer", but every single one of us can be a “Horse Listener,” and the moment we begin to truly listen is the moment our world will change from within, and then we will find that true connection.

My training methods revolve around utilising positive reinforcement and creating a foundation of trust, helping horses find their voice, build confidence, curiosity, and a genuine willingness to learn while developing essential life skills both on the ground and undersaddle. Training is available whether they are unhandled, being started undersaddle, working through trauma, behavioural issues, or simply needing a new approach.
My goal is a calm, willing partner. Not just a trained horse. One with confidence rooted in understanding from the very beginning.

            Free Rein Horse Rescue
At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to rescuing, rehabilitating, training and rehoming rescue horses, who have been dumped in Kill Pens, bound for slaughter.
I self-fund the rescue, rehabilitation, and retraining of horses and guide them through every step of rehabilitation- from physical recovery to emotional healing- using connection-based horsemanship and positive reinforcement training techniques. Each horse is an individual and given all the time and care they need to return to health, discover their voice and their potential.
Whether they go on to become riding horses or simply find peace and safety with a person who loves them, every life saved is a victory.
